This image shows some of the life that lives in kelp forests. It is easily noticeable that the stocks grow very tall when in proper conditions and they provide a great deal of shelter for a wide variety of fish.
This is a kelp holdfast. It is very apparent that the structure of kelp is incredibly ornate and very important to the health of the stock itself. These holdfasts are susceptible to storms, but are also harmed by dredging that occurs in the harvesting process.
